Five Perch Base members; John Beckett, Chris Gahan, Bob Gilmore, Dan Marks and Joe Trotter, participated in the Sierra Verde Elementary School Veterans' Appreciation Assembly on Friday, November 8, 2024.
Sierra Verde, a Science, Technology, Engineering And Math (STEAM) school, conducted a Veterans Appreciation Day program.
They fed us breakfast then held an assembly to show their appreciation for Veterans and their patriotism. They really treated us like VIPs!
In past years, we staged the USS Phoenix (SSN-702) parade float at the school. Due to a problem with a failed brake light, the float was in the shop, but we still had items to display and the students asked lots of questions.
