Perch Base made a donation to the ASSM Foundation during the February Perch Base meeting on February 13, 2016. The photo shows our Base Treasurer, David Heighway (right,) giving the donation to Dan Moss, ASSM Chairman (center,) while our Base Commander, Chuck Emmett (left,) looks on.
This $500 donation will sponsor a plaque honoring the USS Perch (SS-176) as our base namesake. The plaque will be placed on the wall behind the memorial along with plaques for the other Lost Boats.
The ASSM (Arizona Silent Service Memorial) Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a purpose to install a memorial honoring U.S. submarine veterans to be located in the Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza, Phoenix, AZ.
